Today is a day for me to work on several projects and get some EWC related reading done. I am going to be working on my computer all day, so if anyone wants to bother me or hit me up on AIM, I will be around for most of my afternoon and early evening. After exercise this morning, I have everything I need to stay in: some fresh bread, cold cuts, soft drinks, snacks. Lisa is off at the beach to get some sun (which looks like it will be fine down in Waikiki, though it is showering here on and off in the mountains), while a lot of people are off to see ukelele competition near Diamond Head. I am not sure what dinner will consist of, but I am sure it will involve going out tonight to some place else. There are still decent Indian restaurants, Chinese places (dim sum beckons one day) and Hawaiian restaurants to go to. I haven't really had any nights out drinking, as things are pretty expensive here: a 24 pack of diet Coke, on sale, goes for $5.99, $7.99 not on sale, but that is cheaper than the .85 cents/$1.00 a can it is in vending machines or stores. I'd say everything here in Hawaii is about 25% more expensive than it would be on the mainland.
I did do some book shopping on Friday for some Hawaiian history books. I bought some souvenirs already, though my Mom is always the hardest to deal with. I'll find the right thing eventually. Next weekend is car rental time, so it should be a fun weekend of exploring the island, though it will be with Lisa and her boyfriend (who is flying in next Saturday.) I might do some exploring on my own on Saturday after dropping them back at the apartment (especially if he is exhausted).
This week is a busy week at the the EWC institute, with several more double sessions and another movie night or two. Monday afternoon I am going to try and convince Lisa to head up Diamond Head in the afternoon, Tuesday afternoon is probably off to the Iolani Palace and downtown before the movie in the evening, Wednesday will be meetings in the afternoon, so I am not sure what we will get done, Thursday is a full day, and Friday afternoon will be car and exploring.
So anyway, time to get myself off to other productive stuff. I hope you are enjoying the blogs and pics.
Matt
