Friday, July 16

Today was a relatively quiet day. This morning I saw that the restaurant closest to Lincoln Hall had a special breakfast item: spam and sushi rice. My god, I had to buy it, eat it, and love it. It was very good. Then it was off to the first of two history lessons, this time from ancient India to the Mughals. Next class on Monday is from the Mughals through independence and partition in 1947. I am really looking forward to that lesson/class.

After that, Lisa and I went downtown and got some lunch at one of the large malls. She needed to get her nails fixed, we needed lunch, and we decided to take a break from sightseeing to go see the newly released movie, Inception. Lisa's choice for lunch: Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. It wasn't that good, and I wanted to eat a sushi conveyor belt restaurant, but we will have to save that for another time. We then wandered around the mall, or I did, as Lisa got her nails done. I went to B&N and picked up some books, including one on the Raj in India. I then went to the mall's Apple store where I considered buying an iPad, but they had none in stock, in fact none where in stock at any outlet on Oahu. I didn't put my name on the waiting list, but I will consider it.

We then went to an authentic Japanese department store in the mall, and it was an intriguing place, in fact the top floor was an entire food court, and I will certainly go back there for lunch. We then headed over to the movie theater, which was in another shopping mall about a 20 minute walk away. The movie cost 10.75, but it was a great movie and I recommend everyone go see it. We then took the bus home and got back to the apt. where it is warm, no real breeze, and it was about 9 pm. I decided to take it easy tonight and watch some tv and get some computer work done.

Tomorrow morning it is off to the Hula festival (a big deal and a one day show). Plenty of sunscreen, and I am sure I will have plenty of pics to post tomorrow night. It is from 9:30 until 5, but we are leaving about 10, and should be back around 5. Then probably another quiet evening after dinner. Lisa is headed to the beach on Sunday, and I am going to spend the day getting work done at this point. Monday afternoon is probably going to try and go downtown to the royal palace or maybe to Pearl Harbor. We shall see...

Hope everyone is enjoying this. Email is always welcome at mattruane at aol dot com.
