Friday, July 9

Well tomorrow is travel day, and the beginning of the expedition to Hawaii, and I am nearly ready to go. Clothing is laid out on my bed, waiting to be packed into two suitcases. I still need to check in, pay for checked bags online and print out boarding passes. Pretty much everything else is ready to go, and I lucked out at Target in finding a pair of summer boat shoes I bought last week for $10 marked down even further to $5! So I will have two pairs of white boat shoes and a pair of sneakers for footwear.

For the three hour layover in Los Angeles, I am going to buy a one day pass to United's Red Carpet Club to while away the lay over. The flight arrives in Hawaii around 3:30 am EST on Sunday morning (about 9:30 Hawaiian Standard Time). By the time I get settled in, it will likely be around midnight, so I might be able to get some sleep and get my schedule adjusted as soon as possible. Keep your fingers crossed.

Sunday is a relaxation day, and I hope Lisa and I will have time to adjust slowly. I am going to try and keep up my normal schedule by exercising around 6:45 am, and then get ready for the seminars to start at 8:30 am, Monday through Friday. Some days we will go through the entire day, until 9:30 at night, but most days we end after lunch, with afternoon sessions only once or twice a week. Next weekend, Lisa and I are likely to travel about the island doing some sightseeing in a rented car. One of my colleagues, Gordon Patterson, has given us both a long list of things to see and do, including a banyan tree said to be grown from a cutting taken from the banyan tree the Buddha is said to have sat under. That should be a moment of serenity.

Anyway, tonight is dinner with the housemates and likely off to the movies around 8 to go see Predators as way to waste some time before heading home to finish packing and then to bed.

I'll probably post something brief tomorrow morning, then the next time will likely be on Sunday, unless I take some time to post in the lounge in LA.

Aloha!
